Cynthia Katherine Ochs Hawkins, 59, of Oblong, IL. passed away in her home November 6th, 2018, after a four year battle with cancer. Cindy was the daughter of Orville “Pat” Ochs and Betty Neeley Ochs. She and was born November 1, 1959 and graduated from Newton Community High School in 1978. She married Douglas Hawkins on August 27th, 1983. Cindy was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved to work in her landscaping tending to her flowers and garden. She loved spending time wither her husband, kids, grandkids, and family. Cindy liked to also work with Doug in their shop building hot rods, craft projects and participating in automotive events. Cindy also loved going on her many trips to Disney World with her family and friends.
Cindy was a member of the Oblong Christmas in the Park committee and The Bend Community Club. She was a lead organizer for Metal Meet in Oblong, a youth leader at Hardinville United Church and Berlin Christian Church. She was also the treasurer at Berlin Christian Church. Cindy was an election judge for Jasper County and a Republican Prescient Chairman. Cindy supported her husband in many career moves to New Jersey, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Chicago, and Des Moines IA over their thirty five years of marriage. Proverbs 31: 10-31.
Cindy is survived by her husband Doug, their two Daughters, Melissa and Mackey Collins of Robinson IL and Amanda and Chris Fox of Hanover PA. Four grandchildren; Aiden and Calvin Collins, Sophia and Lillian Fox as well as her mother Betty Ochs; Two brothers, Patrick and Sharon Ochs of Robinson IL and Raymond and Sherri Ochs of Santa Barbra, CA; One Sister, Teresa and Bill Ikemire of Oblong IL; One Brother in law Jason and Holger Geiger-Bremer of Dusseldorf, Germany; Two sisters in law, Jamie and Andy McReynolds of Newton, IL and Michelle Hawkins of Flora, IL; Mother in law, Sue and Max Musgrave of Oblong IL and Leon Geiger of Oblong, IL. as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death was her father Orvil “Pat” Ochs, her father in law Jim Hawkins, grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
Services will be held at Pulliams Funeral home in Oblong, IL. Saturday, November 10th, 2018. Visitation will be 9-11AM with funeral services at 11. Service will be officiated by Bill Ikemire with burial at Berlin cemetery in the Bend. Donations can be made to Lincoln Land Hospice.
